My Experience at the YIS Global Youth Investment Summit

Leaving the underground, I was entranced by Roosevelt Island’s tranquility. It was hard to believe that this island was in the middle of New York City and yet so calm. Taking a quick left, I was in front of Cornell Tech’s Bloomberg center, taking in its modern and jovial architecture. Why was I here? For the Young Investors Society’s Global Youth Investment Summit (GYIS).

Hi, I’m Kushagra Sadwal, the founder of GenZ Evaluations. I was invited as a top 100 team (out of nearly 600 entries) to the GYIS with the Verizon stock pitch I wrote up . This two-day summit was not only a captivating competition for people aspiring to be in the finance industry, but a fun networking event where I met many like-minded individuals which I couldn't find in my school. Through the final rounds of the stock pitch competition–which included a Case Study Competition, Jeopardy, and more–I competed for up to five-thousand dollars in cash prizes and even paid summer internships. The summit also provided over five guest speakers from the finance industry. From these speakers, I learned that everyone has different philosophies of life and how I may use others’ stories to help me shape my own philosophy as I mature.

I recommend this summit to all aspiring individuals for the learning experiences from competing, other competitors, and speakers; and for the chance to earn prizes and explore the city. It has been hosted in cities like New York and Salt Lake City which are great places to travel after the day's activities. Young Investors Society is committed to devoting its resources to better our futures.
